Production Meeting 4

As part of the pre production process we had to have production meetings as part of our production team. During these meetings we utilised the time using it to discuss and plan how we were going to proceed with making our music video. In this meeting we brainstormed some ideas for our digipak and advert. 

We agreed it would be a good idea to take pictures as went along filming so that Shelby could appear on the digipak in some of the same outfits that she wore while we were filming this would later help us to link the digipak to the music video. 

While discussing ideas we thought about maybe incorporating some images of journal entries for Shelby's character somewhat inspired by the "burn book" from mean girls. Although we decided to scrap this idea as when we tried experimenting with creating journal entries we found that they looked sloppy and didn't fit with the feel of our digipak. 

Instead we looked for inspiration elsewhere and we came across Adele's music video "Send my love". We found that we really enjoyed the effect of the overlaid images used in this music video and decided we wanted to incorporate this into our digipak images. For this I thought it would be effective to have multiple layers on top of one and other and drop the opacity down so that the back layers would fade through into the foreground. We also discussed colour selections for the background layers. We decided that in order to link the layers to the music video we would use the key colours from the music video in our digipak. These colours red and green are very important in our music video for representing the change in Shelby's character from unpopular to popular as such we would use them to tint the background layers of our digipak.

For the advert we decided to try and take some professional looking calculated model shots of Shelby as it would allow our advert to look much more realistic and like a real advert. We decided on using a white background and experimenting with different poses for Shelby to do in order to judge which would be the most effective. We also discussed ideas for costume that Shelby would wear for this shoot, deciding to incorporate colour scheme and the school theme from our music video. We did this by dressing Shelby in a burgundy red shirt that represents the colour of popular Shelby, and a grey check skirt that was used to represent Shelby as a student and the unpopular Shelby.
