As part of the pre production process we had to have production meetings as part of our production team. During these meetings we utilised the time using it to discuss and plan how we were going to proceed with making our music video. In this meeting we went on a location recce visiting a number of different areas to see which would be suitable for us to use for our music video.
We took trips to both Lakeside and Romford in order to assess which would be the most effective setting for our music video. This allowed us to weigh the pros and cons of both settings and ultimately decide on which to use for our final music video. After visiting both shopping centres we all decided that Lakeside would be the better filming location as it was a bigger space and had better lighting sources than Romford which would give us better shots while filming. Also Lakeside had a bigger variety of shops so we would have more places to choose from on the day of filming. However once we had decided on Lakeside we went back to make a plan of what shops to use to shoot our footage in. We made the assessments based on which shops would allow us to film in them and which would have a problem and disrupt our filming process. We agreed this was a necessary process as it would help with our time management on the day of filming allowing us to stay on track and not to go off schedule due to being kicked out off shops for filming.
We also agreed to have shots in school to show Shelby as a student so we took a day to assess which of our schools Robert Clack and Eastbrook would be effective for which shots. We decided that Robert Clack would be more effective for some of the classroom and corridor shots we had discussed and that Eastbrook would be a good choice for some shots showing Shelby as an unpopular kid. We found a space in the corner of our common room that we thought would be effective at showing Shelby as an outcast as it was in the corner by a bin showing that Shelby is in an undesirable place in her life and that she has been discarded by her peers as rubbish.
